Dhyanchand was an Indian hockey player and one of the greatest hockey players in the history of the game.
Dhyanchand was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was an Indian hockey player and is considered one of the greatest players of all time. He was famous for Vijay with his tremendous goal. He won us three Olympic Gold Medals from 1928 to 1936. He was known as the "hockey wizard" for his exceptional ball control.

He led the Indian hockey team to the 1936 Summer Olympic Finals. Although he was refused permission by his regiment to participate in the 1936 Olympics, it ultimately depended. German supreme leader Adolf Hitler had sought to use the 1936 Berlin Olympics to prove his theory of 'Aryan supremacy'. But the brilliant performances of American black athlete Jesse Owens and India's Dhyan Chand pierced his theory.

- After losing to Germany in a warm-up match, there were high hopes of a home win during the Indo-German final at the 1936 Olympics but it proved to be wrong as India played a breath-taking final and beat Germany 8–1 And Dhyan Chand scored 3 goals. It is widely rumored that Hitler offered him German citizenship and a high position in the army, which Dhyan Chand politely declined.

Dhyanchand's last days were not good. Despite India winning the gold medal in the Olympic match, India forgot him. He was also short of money in his last days. He was diagnosed with liver cancer, was admitted to the General Ward of AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. He died on 3 December 1979.
